Ready to start the new year 2026 on the right foot? If so, you might be interested in doing one or more New Year’s rituals. Among the most popular New Year’s rituals we find: eating 12 grapes (making a wish for each one with the sound of the chimes), cleaning the house and sweeping (toward the outside to remove bad energies), running a block with a suitcase (to attract travel), taking a bath with bitter herbs followed by one with sweet herbs (to start the year with renewed energy), among others. Have you ever wondered why we like performing these rituals, which in some cases can even be considered pagan? In my personal opinion, the reasons vary: for some it’s the desire to change our reality, the hope of finding love or attracting good fortune; for others it stems from family traditions, and in many cases from belief in manifestation and in the elemental or spiritual magic associated with these rituals. Who among us hasn’t heard from our parents that it’s good to eat lentils during New Year’s dinner, or hasn’t been asked to wear yellow underwear to attract good fortune? All of this is closely linked to New Year’s rituals. Below, we will look at 4 of them, which you can put into practice this upcoming December 30th and 31st, 2025.

- Color Ritual: This ritual is related to the clothes you choose to wear on New Year’s Eve. It is recommended to use colors that align with what you want to attract in the coming year. It is connected to the symbolic representation colors have in magic. If you want to attract good health, green is ideal, as it also represents youth. On the other hand, if you want to attract romantic love, this is associated with pink, while red is linked to passion. If this new year you want to attract financial abundance, your color should be yellow, which is also associated with joy and cheerfulness. Meanwhile, those knowledgeable in magical traditions always recommend avoiding colors like black and gray during this time, as they are associated with negative energies, mourning, or sadness.
- Letter Ritual: This ritual has both a psychological and a magical perspective. In it, you must write a letter on a piece of paper where you express everything negative from this year 2025—everything that hurt you and that you wish to leave behind. Then, thank the universe and ask the fire to take away the negative and transmute it into prosperity, joy, and positivity for this new year. Finally, burn the paper in fire, mentally and energetically releasing all these negative matters.
- Money Ritual: For this ritual, you must place 7 coins and a 20-dollar bill (or more, if possible) in your right shoe. The idea behind this ritual is to start the year by taking your first step with this foot, thereby attracting wealth and abundance into your life. This ritual is connected to manifestation.
- Grapes Ritual: This ritual involves eating 12 grapes (they can be green, red, or a mix of both) right at the final countdown to midnight, or if you prefer, after the 12 chimes. With each grape you eat, you must make a new wish or desire for each month of the upcoming year 2026.

Below I’m attaching a page where you can find more New Year’s rituals that you might like. Here I attach a definition about the New Year.
“To finish, I’d like to ask you that, as a New Year’s resolution, we pledge to take better care of the environment — since climate change is something very concerning that is happening, and it’s in our hands to try to reduce it. And if possible, support the author of the book “Persona normal”, who is a constant activist promoting climate-change action.”
